PSS is a “bed-centric” automated hand hygiene monitoring system. Many of the “wash in, wash out” systems focus on a very broad space such as a patient room that can have two or three patients. When you wash your hands as you enter these rooms, you are washing for all the patients inside. This falls short of controlling cross contamination opportunities.
The advantage of PSS is that we take it a step further – we drill down to the most critical space in a hospital – the point of contact between the patient and the health care worker. Our system gently reminds a HCW to sanitize each and every time they visit a patient.
We designed PSS to increase hand hygiene awareness and to help prevent the spread of hospital acquired infections (HAIs) by monitoring and modifying clinician behavior to improve hand hygiene compliance.
